Carrie is an upcoming 2013 American supernatural horror film. It is the third film adaptation of Stephen King's 1974 novel of the same name, and a remake of Brian De Palma's 1976 film of the same name, although it will more closely follow the novel. It stars Chloƫ Grace Moretz as Carrie White, and Julianne Moore as her mother, Margaret White. The film is scheduled to be released on March 15, 2013. The film will be the first co-production between MGM and Screen Gems.
Plot
The quiet suburb of Chamberlain, Maine is home to the deeply religious and conservative Margaret White (Julianne Moore) and her daughter, Carrie (Chloe Moretz). Carrie is a sweet but meek outcast whom Margaret has sheltered from society. Gym teacher, Miss Desjardin (Judy Greer) tries in vain to protect Carrie from a group local mean girls known as "The Ultras" which consists of Chris Hargensen (Portia Doubleday), Sue Snell (Gabriella Wilde), Tina Blake (Zoe Belkin), Erika Gogan (Mouna Traore), Heather (Samantha Weinstein), Nikki (Karissa Strain) and Lizzi (Katie Strain), but only Sue regrets their actions. In an effort to make ammends, Sue asks her boyfriend, high school heartthrob, Tommy Ross (Ansel Elgort) to take Carrie to the prom. Pushed to the limit by her peers at the prom, Carrie unleashes telekinetic havoc.
